The Story

CHOOSE BETWEEN A PAPERBACK IN NEW CONDITION OR A HARDBACK IN NEAR FINE CONDITION

First impression of this paperback edition from 2003 in as new condition, no markings.

The hardback is a first edition from 2002. In near fine condition. Very minor wear and tear to dust jacket, now in a removable protective sleeve. Very slight toning to extremities of pages, otherwise pages clean, biding firm.

Published by Norton

In 1955, having just ended his high-profile but stormy career with Life magazine by resigning, W. Eugene Smith was commissioned to spend three weeks in Pittsburgh and produce one hundred photographs for noted journalist and author Stefan Lorant's book commemorating the city's bicentennial. Smith stayed a year, compiling nearly sixteen thousand photographs for what would be the most ambitious photographic essay of his life
