About House Hunting (Deluxe Limited Edition Suite with 6 Archival Pigment Prints)

The book is an artist proof of the remastered third edition (2019). Large format hardback in new condition. Signed by Todd Hido to title page. No markings to neither book nor prints. The paper size of the prints is 44 x 36 cm (17 x 14 inches); the image sizes slightly vary but most are 33 x 41 cm (13-1/4 x 16-3/4 inches, with a 1/8-1/4 inch white border). Each print is signed and numbered in pencil on verso by Hido. Moreover, the 6 prints are individually protected with clear archival (acid-free) polyester film sleeves and all are housed, with a signed copy of the book, in a clamshell box which was custom-made for this deluxe edition.

“Todd Hido’s large colour photographs of suburbia are lonely, forlorn, mysterious… but strangely comforting. Hido photographs the interior rooms of repossessed tract homes and the outsides of similar houses at night whose habitation is suggested by the glow of a television set or unseen overhead bulb. Seldom does the similar evoke such melancholy. Yet rather than passing judgment on his anonymous subjects, Hido manages to turn the banal into something beautiful.
