What Uwajima in Shikoku reminds me of first and foremost is Shinro Ohtake, a contemporary artist who owns a big atelier space in the region, from where he continues to present his works on the international art stage.
Ohtake-san once took me around Uwajima, where I took photos in the streets and the surrounding landscapes, and even though that was long ago, I have fond memories of it that keep coming back to me. A new colour photo book is coming out that contains some of those shots, and I’m looking very much forward to that. - Daido Moriyama
