The Story

First edition, first impression of Iro To Katachi/Color and Form by Yasuhiro Ishimoto. Medium format paperback with dust jacket in fine condition. Signed by the artist on the title page.

About

Iro To Katachi/Color and Form contains two bodies of work by Ishimoto: a series of colour abstractions experimenting with multiple exposures, and black and white photographs of flowers. Ishimoto was based in Chicago for many years, and studied at the New Bauhaus / Institute of Design. This colour work done in the late 1950s was at the forefront of the medium, and his work was especially experimental in exploring possibilities. This monograph is one of the few available sources of this work, and quite scarce.
